I founded Woodland Irrigation to confront a growing challenge facing cottage regions like Muskoka: the escalating threat of wildfire driven by climate change. While local measures like cloud seeding and aerial firefighting have helped, the risk continues to rise with hotter, drier summers, increased recreational activity, and storm debris littering the forests. According to a University of Alberta study, the eight most extreme wildfire weather years on record have all occurred in the last decade. Even researchers who once considered Muskoka low-risk have revised their assessments in light of today’s shifting climate.
